At the heart of our work lies the idea, the story, the theme - meaning close collaboration with writers. Lucky Bird sees itself as a trusted partner for acclaimed authors and screenwriters such as Henning Mankell (The Chinese), Cornelia Funke (Ghosthunters: On Icy Trails), Julia Frank (Blind at Heart), Juli Zeh (Über Menschen), Fred und Léonie Breinersdorfer (13 Minutes), and Holger Karsten Schmidt (The Mission).

As a production company, we take an international approach to development, realization and distribution. Extensive experience in international co-productions and a curiosity for stories and collaborations beyond borders define Lucky Bird. Our TV and film productions are successfully distributed worldwide and have been released in cinemas, on television and in home entertainment in countries such as the UK, Canada and the USA.

Lucky Bird Pictures originated from a German-Scandinavian venture with the Swedish Yellow Bird Group (Mankells Wallander, Stieg Larsson's Trilogie Millennium). Since 2012, Oliver Schündler has been the company's sole shareholder.

Since 2018, Lucky Bird Pictures has been producing "Watzmann ermittelt", one of the most successful crime series for German pre evening television (Das Erste).

Oliver Schündler received the Bavarian Film Award's Producer Prize for Best Film for "13 Minutes", which was nominated for seven Lolas.

The company's strategic focus lies not only on literary adaptations but also on the development of international series formats.
