An unidentified dead woman is found in a deranged military vehicle. Leitmayr, Batic, and Hammermann discover that a vehicle is missing from a nearby Army base. The victim had apparently been hired as a "Civilian on the Battlefield" for an ongoing NATO exercise. Together with Military Police Officer Jennifer Miller, the detectives not only locate the crime scene but also find another dead body on the premises. With little time to solve the case due to the ongoing maneuver, they opt for an unconventional investigation method: "Embedded Investigation."
